2018 AGM Recap And Adaea Smart Fundraiser Update

Maybe it was the just the bribery with BBQ, but we had a fantastic turnout for our 2018 AGM last week. Thank you to Paul for his summary of our financials, Rainbow and Anne for going over improvements to our programs, and Jim for highlighting our sponsors and opening the floor for new board members. For a short clip of the start of the presentation, see the Video below.

Thank you to all of our members who have contributed to making the Edmonton Squash Club such a great place to come and play. We can’t wait to see what the next year has in store for us! For the handout made available at the AGM, please visit this link.

Our members were also incredibly generous in coming together to support Rainbow’s niece Adaea who is suffering a remission of leukemia and is waiting for a bone marrow transplant at the Children’s Hospital in Vancouver.

Here’s a message from Rainbow:

“To the friends and families of the Edmonton Squash Club.
Thank you all for helping my niece and her family feel the love from Alberta.  The incredible warmth that was displayed by our community was heartwarming.  Great hugs, many well-wishes, and an incredible $1755 was raised to support Adaea and her current fight with Leukemia.  From my family and hers, THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts.  Your generosity and support will be greatly appreciated for some time now.”
“Currently, Adaea is awaiting a break from the hospital after a gruelling run of chemotherapy.  She has battled like a champ and continues to amaze us with her strength and positive attitude.  She will be back at BC Children’s Hospital for another chemo session soon and eventually receiving a bone marrow transplant later this year.  Many people continue to ask what can be done to assist.  Right now the simple answer is to get out and donate blood.  Adaea has received and will continue to receive blood transfusions.  There is always a need for more.  www.blood.ca
Some of our club members are passionate about blood donation and we have done a blood drive in the past. Keep an eye on our newsletter for our next one, which will be later in October.
