We had a great weekend of squash for our inaugural squash club championships! Thank you to everyone that participated.
Summer League
The Edmonton squash club is hosting two nights of summer league every week for the months of May, June, and part of July. We are excited for the 104 entries in our two nights of Summer League. Those nights have an incredible atmosphere and everybody’s having a blast!
Women’s Drop-in
Edmonton Squash Club held our inaugural Women’s Summer Drop-In Wednesday, May 18th at 6:45pm – 9:00pm. This drop-in will run every second Wednesday through the summer months. Here are the dates:
May 18, June 1, 15 & 29, July 13 & 27, and August 10 & 24
All are welcome and encouraged to attend, including non-members. It is an opportunity to stay in touch during the summer and play in a relaxed environment, and maybe even try some doubles. If you have a friend/family member who is interested in playing Squash this is a great opportunity for them to experience the sport and meet some great people.
There is no drop-in fee for non-members, however we are asking you to donate $5.00 per visit to the Junior Squash fund.
All women will receive a 10% discount off the pro-shop and food and beverage during the drop-ins.
We hope you can join us for some summer Squash and lots of fun.
No need to register, just show up and play!
If you have any questions, please contact me at the ESC 780-306-2395 or Caroline de Vries 780-966-5507
We look forward to seeing you!

PSA World Tour Results
The most recent big PSA event on the men’s tour was in El Gouna in Egypt. Ultimately Mohamed El Shorbagy (EGY) prevailed in a thrilling 5-game, 90 minute final against Greg Gaultier (FRA), bringing his PSA world tour championships tally up to 6 in a row.
On the women’s side, Nour El Sherbini (EGY) came from 2 games down against Laura Massaro (ENG) to take the $185k Women’s World Championships in Malaysia and, in doing so, became both the youngest ever Women’s World Champion and also the new Women’s World #1.
The last big stop of the year on the PSA world tour will be in Dubai in front of the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building with play beginning on May 24th.
The Canadian Nationals took place in Toronto, Ontario from May 4-7th and there was plenty for Albertans to cheer for. After coming runner-up the past two years, Andrew Schnell of Calgary claimed the top prize on the men’s side, with his brother Graeme also finishing on the podium with a 3rd place finish. On the women’s side, Danielle Letourneau of Calgary made it to game 5 in the championship game before falling to Hollie Naughton. You can view the replay of the championships here.
