Growing the game of squash is one of the Edmonton Squash Club’s most important mandates. And what better way to do that than by hosting the Edmonton Junior Squash Events which have come to be among the busiest and most fun days each year at the club!
As many of you know, club-pro Julie Multamaki and Heather Sanregret organise two Jr Squash events each year for our young developing squash players in Edmonton and area. These one-day events offer beginner and developmental players from 5-18 yrs of age, an opportunity to compete in a fun environment with children of similar abilities (not by age group or sex), with modified balls appropriate for their ability levels. Each child receives 3-4 matches, and they are encouraged to learn the rules, plus mark and referee the ensuing match. (We have adult volunteers to help young and beginner kids with the refereeing and marking).
Every child goes home with a prize – we do not give out prizes for 1st-3rd, as this is a developmental event, and participation is more important at this stage. That being said, our annual fundraising campaign is about garnering financial support from our squash playing community. We are asking for squash players to please consider donating either a $20 gift card or $20 cash towards supporting the prizes for our 2 events this coming season. The first event each season is held at the Royal Glenora Club in October, and the 2nd event is hosted by the Edmonton Squash Club in April.
Gift cards that kids love include (but are not limited to) Chapters/Indigo; i-Tunes; Best Buy; Netflix; Cineplex Odeon Movie Passes; Lulu Lemon; Google Play; X-Box; Sportchek; and Sweet Spot. We’ll also gladly take new grips, bags and racquets etc. that have been hanging around your closet for years!
In return for your $20 donation, we will give you 3 draw tickets to be used in our 3 fabulous summer beverage draws – products have been generously donated by WWSE, George Multamaki, Mark Anthony Wines, Lanigan & Edwards Wine Merchants, Labatt’s, and Sleeman’s. We have 2 beer baskets and one wine/liquor basket up for grabs.

Heather and/or Julie will be at the ESC Summer League each Tuesday & Thursday, from June 27 – July 13, 2017 to collect gift cards/donations, and to distribute draw tickets. All draws will be made on Thursday, July 13th at 8:30pm. If you are not in attendance that evening, we will contact you and arrange to get your prize to you!
