With a new $30/month doubles membership available, Julie Multamaki and Jeff Williams are working on some new doubles programs. The latest update for the December Box league follows immediately below. For further information, please scroll further for the original post from Julie.
Sign up for the December Doubles Ladder
Sign up as a team, or as an individual and we will try to find you a partner. Teams can be comprised of same-sex, and/or mixed. Just let us know if you want in, and we will slot you into the ladder based on where the committee feels that you best fit. We ask that you & your partner be of a very similar playing level so that everyone gets competitive matches when they step on court.
What does it cost? $10 bucks from everyone up front – which will go into a windup function pot at the end of the season (April TBA). You need to complete 2 matches each month in order to “save” your original $10 bucks. If you fail to play 2 matches by the 25th day of each month, then your $10 will go into the “function” pot, and it will cost you each another $10 bucks to join the ladder the next month. You can play more than 2 matches each month if you want to get in more matches.
If you need to skip a month or two because you are busy with work or vacation – no worries – just let us know before the 29th day of each month so that we can take you out (and let us know by the 29th of each month if you need back in). Providing that you have fulfilled the 2-match requirement the previous month then your $10 bucks is still safe, and you won’t need to pay to get back in.
Players must be members of ESC. If you are currently a member of another club and want to play doubles at ESC, you will need to purchase the “NEW” Doubles only membership for $30/month (unlimited doubles play). Please contact the ESC for further details on this new membership for doubles players.
Register for the December Ladder by November 24th.
To register and for further information, please contact Julie Multamaki coachmultamki@gmail.com.
1. Doubles Ladder – starting October 1, 2018
2. “New” ESC Doubles Membership
3. Doubles Lessons with Jeff & Julie
4. Movement/Footwork Clinic with Julie
1. The ESC will be starting a Doubles Ladder at the beginning of October.
Jeff Williams, Pat Binns, Aya Okamoto and I will be trying to get this started for ESC members. If you are not an ESC member and want to play in this ladder then please read Section #2 regarding the new doubles ONLY membership. Teams can be comprised of same-sex, or mixed. Just let us know if you want in, and we will slot you into the ladder based on where the committee feels that you best fit. We ask that you & your partner be of a very similar playing level so that everyone gets competitive matches when they step on court, and it is fun for everyone.

At this point in time, you will be able to challenge teams up to 3 rungs ahead of you. If you win, you move 1 place above the team that you beat. If you lose to a team ranked ahead of you on the ladder then you stay where you are. As the numbers grow in the ladder then we will address a “rung challenge increase” as needed. We will block off 1-hour time slots on Thursdays evenings, Saturdays, and Sundays to complete ladder matches – and we will have a Google doc where you can book the court time for your match (as well as the contact info for everyone on the ladder). If for some reason you are unable to play on any of the above-mentioned days, then you can organize with your opponents to play on another time/day (you will need to make your own booking for that through the ESC club booking system). Matches will be best of 5. Further rules about determining a winner if the match is not completed within the hour will be sent out to teams prior to the start of the ladder.
If you need a partner, let us know, and we will find you one. If you already have a partner then let us know your team. Regardless, we need your name, contact phone number, email address, and if you are new to doubles then we will also need your level of play (ESL singles level or tournament singles level), so that we can place you in a competitive spot on the ladder. The $10 will be charged to your account once the ladder is finalized.
Register before September 28th. Please reply all to this email, so that Jeff, Pat, Aya and myself (all of our emails are in the cc section above) all get the information.
2. “New” ESC Doubles ONLY Membership.
In July, the ESC officially approved a doubles-only membership for the 2018/19 season. This is a great membership for those singles players from other clubs to play doubles on a regular basis.
Cost: $30/month or $300 annually, plus a $30 one-time fee for the fob
It gives you unlimited weekly doubles court bookings (maximum court booking of 1 court per day).
You will have full access into the facility from 5:00 AM to midnight (including the fitness room and lockers rooms), but no singles court privileges or free drop-in access. The ESC has started to take active measures to monitor courts and wil bill people with basic and doubles-only memberships who try to get extra court times during unstaffed hours.
Please sign up on the ESC website, https://ts2.clubinterconnect.
3. Doubles & Singles Lessons. Jeff Williams & Julie Multamaki.
If you are new to doubles and are looking for some technical and strategical instruction throughout the week, then please do not hesitate to contact Jeff Williams jeff.williams@
